EPISODE 0.0
We open on a talk show like set up where there are two plush white leather chairs set up with a coffee table in front of them. Sitting in one chair is Astrid Samson, talk show host and new(ish) to One Wrestle Movement. She sips at a venti Starbucks iced latte before dabbing the corners of her mouth.
Astrid Samson: Ladies and gentlemen… boys and girls… Welcome to the zero edition of Caffeine and Cognac presented by One Wrestle Movement. My name is Astrid Samson, formerly Astrid Sedin and I am the woman known as “The Iconic Queen” or “QUeen of Anarchy”... whichever you prefer. I am the woman everyone loves to target when trying to send a message to Joshua Samson, Esquire… my husband.
She shakes her head a little bit, taking another sip of her drink.
Astrid Samson: We have recently moved from a podcast format to one of a talk show. It is also a special show and because of that, my co-host won’t be joining me this time, instead I will have a super duper special guest. What better way to start it out than with the man who runs this whole dog and pony show… the one, the only… 1WM’s chief executive officer himself… Cedric Southern!
Cedric Souther comes walking into frame, a slight pep in his step as Astrid rises from her seat to meet him. The two shake hands as people clap a bit before they take their seats.
Astrid Samson: Welcome to the show Mr. Southern. Would you like a cup of coffee? Or a glass of cognac perhaps?
Cedric Southern: Cognac, you say? That’s different. I suppose that’s what is going to make this talk show different from all the others. Cognac it is, Astrid. And please call me Cedric.
Astrid Samson: Yeah, this definitely ain’t “The View” or any of those other talk shows where people ramble, and bicker like a couple of Karens. We’re going to talk about hard hitting topics that concern the One Wrestle Movement faithful.
Astrid snaps her fingers and one of the production assistants comes into frame, carrying a crystal glass containing the amber colored liquid that is cognac. They carefully hand it to Cedric before darting back off camera.
Astrid Samson: First off, congratulations on recently being promoted from the COO position to that of CEO. I’m glad someone who knows what they’re doing and is focused like you is in the position as opposed to that asshat Ricky Stanton who really only knew how to run that mouth of his.
The portly middle aged man chuckles while he takes a sip of the brown liquor. He releases an audible “ah” before placing the glass back down on the table beside him.
Cedric Southern: Wow, that’s some good drink right there! Joshua’s brand I take it?
Astrid Samson: Would you expect him to pick anything else? That man knows a lot of cognacs in this world… but that would be the only brand he’d let someone like you drink. He’d give the cheaper stuff to someone like… those yappers like Leo Cook, Stasi Herveaux… you catch my drift?
Cedric Southern: I appreciate that. I also appreciate your congratulations on my recent promotion. With Stanton divesting his shares of 1WM, my boss only felt it was just that I receive the promotion to CEO.
Astrid looks down at her cards, her eyes quickly dashing across the notes written upon them, trying to pick out which topic she wants to start off with.
Astrid Samson: Recently, in addition to your promotion, you were on hand as 1WM celebrated their first anniversary with a massive show that lived up to its name… Massive. And you guys got BTS as the theme song. A very fitting song too… “IDOL”. My sister has been loving BTS as of late… Enhypen too. People have been wondering, since you’re not such a talkative person at shows because you’re so busy running the place, what are some of your thoughts on 1WM’s first year? If you would like my opinion, the Pride of 1WM division is the one to watch because the heavyweight… it’s become quite stale. If only I wasn’t retired…
A sly smile comes across the unusually demure face of Astrid as her gaze drifts off for a few moments before she snaps back, looking down upon her cards once again.
Astrid: Anyway… back to the topic… your thoughts on 1WM turning one.
Cedric takes another generous sip of the cognac.
Cedric Southern: That’s really good stuff...anyway, One Wrestle Movement turning one year old this past December. As my boss likes to call it “the little engine that could” has exceeded every expectation and goal that was established for it. From legitimizing the Heavyweight Championship to World status to creating household names in this industry to bringing that buzz back to the sport, I feel that we have done just that.
Another sip.
Cedric Southern: If I could be a bit ego driven here, Astrid, but it was my idea to institute the Pride of 1WM Championship. I felt that a secondary title that epitomized what the company stood for was needed.
Astrid Samson: Ah… well that was a very smart decision because that is quite the exciting division. Just… it feels like a bit of a sausage fest if you know what I mean. Feels like the ladies aren’t getting shots… and we’re some of, if not the toughest competitors out there because we have to fight just that much more. Past tense in my case… but you know what I mean. Though the Glory 8 match shows some promise in including Rei Park and Faye Lange. I’m pulling for one of them… totally biased of course.
Cedric Southern: Didn’t realize you had an, excuse the expression, dog in the fight, Astrid? Those young ladies friends of yours?
Astrid Samson: Oh I know only their names and what they’ve done thus far since coming to 1WM. I’m only biased because well… I think it’s time a woman holds that belt. But then again, there are A LOT of males on the 1WM roster who act like bitches on their periods. They really need to take some Midol and calm their shit down.
Astrid starts to laugh, but manages to keep it to a chuckle as Cedric takes another sip of the cognac, letting the flavor linger a little bit.
Cedric Southern: Well let’s not discount that a woman, Arley Kirk, has held the World Championship for our entire twelve month existence so far.
Astrid Samson: Oh I’m not… but I did say that the division is stale… like the popcorn at the bottom of the maker at the movie theater. That division clearly needs some help cause there’s too many shit talkers… not enough walk the walkers. Someone needs to dethrone Arley and bring life back because the Pride division will quickly outshine it if they don’t.
Cedric Southern: I can respect that opinion. Quite honestly that is the beauty of the wrestling business as a whole and more specifically One Wrestle Movement and its World Heavyweight division: diversity. What we offer is a well rounded diversity of wrestling. All matter of studies have tried unsuccessfully to defeat Ms. Kirk. She has risen to each level of challenge and exceled.
He sips.
Cedric Southern: Ms. Kirk has been an exemplary champion and when the day comes and she is defeated, know that the next World Champ will have proven her or himself as the best of the best.
Astrid Samson: No offense… but meh. Anyway… moving on! Back to the topic of Ricky Stanton. He recently, and quite suddenly, sold all his stocks in 1WM after basically saying that he wasn’t going to let them leave Stanton Entertainment. Perhaps you could give us an executive’s insight into the transition from Stanton to Iconic Media, LLC. You know… for the people at home who don’t know the ins and outs of this business like you and I do.
Cedric Southern: I wouldn’t say suddenly but yes he divested himself from the majority holding stocks of One Wrestle Movement. As was made public, the negotiations of renewing our contract with Stanton Entertainment Network was a very arduous and drawn out affair. Neither side would budge on either side on certain long term wordage in the contract.
He finishes off the contents of the glass with one final gulp.
Cedric Southern: Ahhhh. Another round?
With another smile, Astrid snaps her fingers and another glass of cognac is brought out to Cedric who saves the sip.
Cedric Southern: I definitely need to speak with Joshua about this brand. But continuing on, after what seemed like a year's worth of talks, it was finally amicably decided that the two companies would divorce.
Astrid Samson: How has the transition been over to Iconic Media? Or has that not officially started yet?
Cedric Southern: No, no, as of January first the majority shareholder of One Wrestle Movement belongs to Iconic Media LLC. The transition went smoothly with no hiccups whatsoever.
Astrid Samson: Ah… well… that is good. Do you have a positive outlook going forward with Iconic Media LLC? I know I do… but again… biased.
Slightly loosening the knot of his tie, Cedric takes another generous sip. It is clear that the warm tingling sensation of a buzz is washing over the CEO.
Cedric Southern: Nothing but a positive outlook, Astrid. As fine as a business that Stanton Entertainment is and what they collectively brought to the table, there is nothing like working with family. Though a select few even know of Iconic Media LLC, it has been a behind the scenes “in your face” originator of wrestling content for many years now.
Astrid Samson: Oh I know they do. You forget that I was a part of Iconic Pro Wrestling with the nickname “The Iconic Queen” for their entire run and am a part of the legal team of Iconic Sports Management. Hell, I was a part of the last main event in their history, one that was controversial because people bitched the world title wasn’t in the main event. And where are those people now? JOBLESS!
Cedric Southern: I, uh, suppose so. But, yes, I see nothing but positivity going forward now that One Wrestle Movement has completely returned to the Iconic fold.
Astrid Samson: As you should because this will be an iconic partnership… pun intended.
A slight chuckle escapes from the mouths of both Astrid and Cedric.
Astrid Samson: So given that we know that the new partnership with Iconic Media LLC is in full effect, what else do you think that 2021 has in store for 1WM? Another singles title since only one is really competitive perhaps? I know that there’s the world tour coming up, but we can cover that in a bit because that’s a completely different topic.
Cedric Southern: You’re really driving that point of you not appreciating the competition of the World Heavyweight Championship. To each his own of course but to answer the question we have a lot in store for this year; some to be revealed when the time comes while others, like a potential singles championship, can be confirmed to be in the immediate future.
Astrid Samson: I’m not necessarily saying it’s not… just that we’ve seen multiple people have multiple chances and it’s boring and stale. There are others that have potential… but even they’re not ready for it. Say Cassie Morse hadn’t suddenly grown a set of balls, trying to be something she’s not really proven she’s capable of portraying… she’d have potential. There are a few like her.
Astrid reaches for her cup of iced coffee, raising it up to her lips and taking a sip before gently setting it back down in front of her.
Astrid Samson: Ooh… another singles title would be great. I think it will give people more of an opportunity to hold gold and that’s a good thing. Bad thing too though cause there are too many egos already and a lot of bags of hot air if you know what I mean. Hopefully someone who can bring prestige to the title will hold it. Definitely not someone like Stasi Fucking Herveaux or Leo “The Gabber” Cook because neither of them have proven they have what it takes. Someone like… hmm… let me think…
Astrid ponders something, tapping at her chin for a few moments.
Astrid Samson: Dawn Master I think would be someone who could solidify its place in history quite well. She’s been impressive thus far. I’d pick a male too… but most of them seem to be too busy comparing their dick sizes and beating their chests like gorillas.
Cedric Southern: We believe that the roster has bolstered enough that a third singles championship is warranted. There are many capable wrestlers that would bring the prestige that the Pride of 1WM and the World Heavyweight Championships already have.
Again he sips before continuing.
Cedric Southern: Ms. Master, Dawn specifically since you mentioned her, would be a great champion but I think that since she and her sister won the Tag Team Championships at Massive she’ll be more than occupied.
Astrid Samson: Her sisters are the tag champions… not her. But regardless… she’d make an excellent champion.
Cedric Southern: Hmmm...I believe you’re correct. She would make an excellent champion but so would anyone else on the roster. When the time comes for them to battle it, the best person will emerge as the champion.
Southern takes another brief sip.
Astrid Samson: Anyway… back to the topic of the 1WM world tour that starts this month. What thought process went into picking the locations? I even heard that a few locations had to be switched around.
Cedric Southern: We were really looking to pick places not normally associated with wrestling or at least not hotbed for wrestling events. Of course we’ve picked places that are, but just like our domestic tour last year we were looking to capitalize on the smaller markets in order to maximize exposure and keep a low overhead on expenses.
Sip.
Cedric Southern: And yes we did rearrange a show location or two but that was merely to accommodate the theme going into the show.
Astrid Samson: Well I’m not going to lie, I’m looking forward to being at the Mexico show. Nothing better than a margarita in Mexico… they just hit differently. My little sister however has been clamoring to go to Tokyo since about the time she moved in with us, so she’s looking forward to that. My wife hasn’t been to Paris since she was a kid and Josh… well he’s not really looking forward to any cause he doesn’t like international flights.
A genuine giggles comes from Astrid as she flicks a section of her platinum and rose colored locks behind her shoulder, tucking it behind her ear as a way to secure it.
Cedric Southern: Someone has been doing some journalistic investigating, huh? The information concerning the World Domination tour locations haven’t been revealed yet.
Astrid Samson: Sheeeiiit! I may have done some digging. I’m willing to get my hands dirty if I have to, unlike Maria and Meerkat.
Astrid winks a bit, the smile never seeming to fade from her face.
Astrid Samson: 1WM has such a worldly roster as it… I only expect that some of them would love to perform in front of their home country’s crowd.
Cedric Southern: Oh that was a HUGE consideration when deciding on locations as well. I can say this, what we don’t cover this year we will definitely visit during World Domination Tour Part Two.
Astrid Samson: Just please no Norway. I don’t really want those distant maternal family members I haven’t seen since I was in the single digits come out of the woodwork wanting to see me. Though rumor has it there will be a stop in the country where my asshole of a father was born.
Astrid rolls her eyes as she brings up her father, taping her cards against her knees to straighten them out before looking at them once again, distracting herself.
Astrid Samson: Well I think that is everything that I had to talk about. Is there anything else you think we should discuss that we didn’t?
Cedric Southern: If you’ve exhausted all of your topics then I have nothing else except to all the fans watching Glory and Legendary keep showing support and we appreciate you.
Astrid Samson: That is everything people. I hope nobody takes my words to heart… no… that’s a lie. If you don’t like what I say, it’s not my fault you can’t handle it. I speak the truth. Nothing more or less. So keep watching Legendary and Glory… if you so choose. It has been picking up a little I guess. See you all next time.
The scene fades out and Astrid can be heard yelling, “Next time when I order my iced latte... make sure there’s LIGHT ice dammit!”
