Iconics’ Solomon Monster bares major reason behind mentality that translated to win versus Zombies Santa Monica Iconics head coach Solomon Monster detailed his team's mentality that has been present in training camp and the preseason win over the New Orleans Zombies.
The Iconics had the inaugural preseason game against the Zombies on Tuesday and they won in blowout fashion by the score of 36-12. Iconics head coach Monster spoke about how the standard that is expected in practice led to the performance in the game.
“I think we understand the way we feel about playing and how we see winning,” Monster said.
The Iconics have big expectations going into the second season of the Gladiatrix Football League, especially since this will be their first year in the league. Monster is trying to instill his culture with the Iconics.
It will take much more than just a preseason win for the veteran wrestler to win fans over and be convinced that he can build a winner with the Iconics, but it does seem that the attitude heading into this training camp is positive. The win over the Zombies is a good sign for the players who participated and could mean that the Iconics have good depth on their roster.
Either way, Monster will have to prove himself soon as head coach of the Iconics. He has overly stressed a heavy dose of the run game and a particularly aggressive side of the defense. Monster will have to prove that his vision will work. Hopefully the performance from Tuesday against the Zombies can translate at least somewhat to the regular season.
