As she got out of her show that evening, Brianna Matthews would grab her towel and dry her hair. She then grabbed her dry towel drying herself off before going out to her bedroom. Getting in her dresser drawer she would pull out her undergarments putting them on. She quickly then got in another drawer pulling out a pair of putting them on. She made her way to the closet grabbing her black spaghetti tank top. And her black and gray long sleeved distressed sweater putting them both on. Going back to the dresser she would grab a pair of her black socks and put them on before going out to the living room. She then grabbed her black combat boots and put them on quickly only to grab her keys. Turning to Apollo, her bulldog, she would speak to him.
Bri: Apollo, be a good boy while I am gone.
She then went out the door locking it behind her and went to her car. She got in and drove to a small restaurant where she quickly parked and got out to go inside. Walking a bit faster she looked around once inside and walked over to a table. Sitting down she looked across the table at the person in front of her which was none other than her godson Ian Cross.
Bri: Hey Ian! Sorry I was a few minutes late.
Ian: That's ok.
The waitress comes over to take their orders and drink orders before quickly bringing those sodas back to the table.
Bri: Ian, how was school this past week? Did you ace that math test you were worried about?
Ian: Yeah, it went pretty well, Aunt Bri. Thanks for helping me study last week. You're like the coolest godmother ever.
Bri: Aw, shucks, Ian. Just doing my duty. Speaking of school, have you started thinking about what you want to do over the summer?
The waitress comes over with the food now and sets each plate down in front of who it goes to and goes back to waiting on others.
Ian: Well, actually, Mom and I were talking about it. My dad still has some real estate out there plus the penthouse he has when he gets tired of mom and disappears for a few days but I’m not supposed to know that. Don't tell her that is where he goes. I don’t know if he still does but he probably does. He came out to Santa Monica once to stay a few days with Isabella when he was frustrated at mom while we lived in Manhattan still but yeah, I’m moving back to Manhattan!
Bri: Oh, wow! That's fantastic news. I'm sure you're excited to be back in the city.
Ian: Yeah, it'll be cool to see all my old friends again. But Mom's a bit nervous about it. She's worried about finding a good school for me there.
Bri: I understand her concerns. Moving can be tough, especially when it comes to finding the right school. But Manhattan has some excellent educational opportunities.
Ian: Yeah, Mom knows that. But at the same time I am also sad about me leaving. You helped take care of me like I was your own son.
Bri: I'll miss having you around. You're like the son I never had.
Ian: Maybe you should have your own family, Aunt Bri. You're always working so hard, but you need people to share your life with too.
Brianna: pauses, contemplating his words
Bri: You know, you might be onto something there, Ian. I've been so focused on my career that I haven't thought much about starting a family.
Ian: Yeah, but what happens to all your stuff if you don't have anyone to leave it to?
Bri: I guess you're right. It's not just about material possessions, huh? Family gives meaning to everything we do.
Ian: Exactly! So maybe it's time for you to find someone special and start your own family.
Bri: You've got a point there, Ian. Maybe it's time for Aunt Bri to start focusing on more than just business. Thank you for reminding me of what's truly important.
Ian: No problem, Aunt Bri. That's what family's for, right?
Brianna motions for the waitress and asks for the check now as they are done with their meals. Taking out her money from her pocket she looks through the check paying and tipping $100.00 to the waitress. As they left the building Ian walked Bri to her car making sure she was there and gave her a hug before heading off towards Santa Monica. Bri drove back home and found herself sitting on her couch next to Apollo rubbing his ears thinking about some of the things Ian said to her.
